A police officer was killed and two others were injured after they came under gunfire outside the Houses of Parliament in Central London at 3.37 am this morning.
Parliament Square was sealed off as police mounted a hunt for the five attackers who fled the scene.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said, “We believe this attack was aimed at Parliament itself."
The attackers wore red and black flags on their upper arms and there is speculation that far-left group, Revolutionary Brotherhood, could be responsible.
Little is known about the group, however, in June 2021, a since-removed video mentioning them was posted online calling for a ‘class war’ against the Conservative government.
MI6 is refusing to comment on the incident.
